Midwest Poolplayers Association (MPA): Everything You Need to Know
Do you love playing pool? Are you from the midwest? You’re in luck!
Tournament pool players all over the midwest have been competing in the MPA since 2010. The MPA is a great organization for meeting like-minded people, making friends, and improving your game!
In this article, we’re going to discuss everything you should know about the MPA – the schedule, how to enter, tracking results, and more!
What is the Midwest Poolplayers Association?
The Midwest Poolplayers Association, or MPA, is headquartered in Burnsville, MN, and functions to provide amateur pool players more opportunities to participate in the game they love.
The MPA offers sanctioned events and large tournaments all throughout the region, and covers North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and south central Canada.

How to Join the MPA
You can join the MPA by following this link, and completing the easy step-by-step registration on MPA’s website. Registration to the MPA is free, but in order to be a “sanctioned player,” you must pay a $20 fee. You can send this payment by cash or check, or you can pay at your first event.
Upon finishing registration, you will be assigned a player number, which will also be your User ID when logging on to the MPAPool.com website.
MPA Handicap Determination
The MPA has handicap rules that help players determine what skill level they will be grouped in. There are five different divisions, and the MPA reserves the right review player results throughout the season and adjust player divisions if necessary.
Here are the 5 MPA pool handicap divisions and what they mean:
- C Division
- Reserved for novice players that typically will not run racks
- B Division
- Improving players who my occasionally run racks, but are still working on cue ball control
- A Division
- These players have are still working on execution, but have good cue ball control and may rack and run a table 10-15% of the time
- AA Division
- Similar to A players, but more consistent and will often be at the top of their league
- Master Division
- Reserved for players in the top 5% of their state or national tournaments in the Open division
